Humorous contemporary story of a thirteen-year-old girl’s first love. Roxana is a student at a sports high school. In spite of her romantic name she has a very mundane relationship to life and even to Honza, an admiring schoolmate. As her parents operate a farm out of town, Roxana lives with her great aunt, a wise and experienced woman who understand her niece rather well; in addition, a love of fencing connects them, something at which the aunt once excelled. A new professor is hired at the school. Most of the boys admire his fencing abilities, most of the girls are pleased that he’s young, handsome and single. Roxana, through her straightforwardness - or perhaps her rudeness - is immediately in conflict with him. But soon we learn that not every quarrel ends badly and not every professor is an enemy - especially when he learns to handle a sword and act with gallantry like a true Cyrano.
