A drama based on the novel by Pavel Kohout, set during the Second World War at Theresienstadt concentration camp, during a single day.Young Christine Kleinburger, daughter of the fort commander, arrives from bombarded Berlin to join her parents. Christine is a “true” German girl, brought up to blind faith in Hitler’s ideology; she is full of clichés and empty phrases but doesn’t really know anything about life or the war. At Theresienstadt Fort, in the close vicinity of the concentration camp, Christine comes to face some real-life scenes. Her parents’ world of the harmony, peace and security of home, as well as the black-and-white world of good and evil seen as yet only as mediated by their “wise” teachers, are in danger of being shattered.
