Catalogue of Czech Television Programmes
A film version of D.H. Lawrence's most well-known novel. In its time the book was considered pornography, concentrating on the erotic as an end in itself. Only later was it comprehended as an answer to questions concerning human eroticism, mankind's subconscious stimulus the motives behind and behaviour. The timeless love story about a socially unequal couple is no longer sensational, but we still find it attractive through the passionate emotions which break down the conventions of the day. The Czech Television adaptation enriches the story by several new elements and hints at the fact that this couple, who have fought for their right to love each other, will not have an easy future.
