A documentary film about an outstanding Czech conductor of the 20th century.The filmmakers aim was to find and interview as many of Karel Ančerls contemporaries as possible, with the aim of compiling a complete and telling picture his life. From his childhood remembered by his junior school classmate; through his early youth spent at Voskovec and Werichs Liberated Theatre, to the years of Nazi persecution and concentration camps, up to the highly successful period of his life when, as chief conductor, he brought laurels and world fame to the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Karel Ančerl spent the last five years of his life in Canada, where he emigrated in 1968.
