A documentary series about the origin, development and impact of beatniks and the Beat Generation, and reflections on the current validity of their thought. Their roots can be traced back to the early US postwar period when small numbers of dissatisfied customers organized to refuse the consumer attitudes of the conventional establishment. The series follows three beat generations in the USA, from Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac to Jello Biafra (singer of the punk band Dead Kennedys). Much unique archive material as well as interviews with the still living representatives of the older and younger generations are used throughout.
