The famous British tenor Ian Bostridge, who recorded the piece in Czech together with mezzo-soprano Ruby Philogene, went to Moravia to investigate the events around the origin of the Diary. There are interviews with Czech and British experts in the film, and also with Kamila Stosslovas son Otto his mother had, in her youth, been Janáčeks inspiration for the Diary of the Man who Vanished as well as for a number of Leoš Janáčeks other famous works.
